How To Be Real On Instagram
How do you share the personal side of your business on Instagram, while still remaining professional?
It can be hard to know what to share on Instagram, versus what is better left off the platform. Especially for many of us, we want to incorporate the “human” side of our business. But how do we do that?
I come from the world of HR, so I often come at this issue from a different place than many. Oftentimes, I lean towards the side of not sharing a lot of personal information, versus sharing too much. But sharing the personal side of your business is what allows people to be able to connect to you. I’m sharing some of my thoughts and tips in the video above.
First, this is where having a personal Instagram and a business one can come in handy. On your business page, you can share all your latest business content, sales, etc. Then on your personal page, you can share all those precious photos of your kiddos. When you do it this way, you don’t have to worry about oversharing your family photos.
Another way you can bring balance is by using Instagram Stories. This is one thing I do. I share more of the behind the scenes photos and videos of my life in my Instagram Stories and leave my feed to be more business. This allows my feed to not get cluttered up.
Also, since I’m a photographer, you probably knew I would mention photography. Having high-quality photography helps your feed to appear more professional and will encourage people to interact more. When you have professional photos taken, make sure to incorporate what is true to you.
Choose what personal things you want to share and then figure out which pieces of that you want to share. You can share the highlights or the important pieces, without sharing too much.
