Overcome Business Growth Struggles with Images
“I’m using great images but my business still isn’t taking off…”
Have you had a professional gallery of images created for you? And did you start using those beautiful images only to have nothing happen?
That means it’s time to perform an audit on some key factors of your image use and marketing strategy.
Your photographer should have given you images that have good lighting and styling and are well-edited. But if you cover up too much of that photo or clutter it with too many other items, it won’t have the impact you’re looking for. For example, Instagram is a very visual platform, and simple really does work best there with posts that are mostly image or text. (Tip: A tool like Canva can help you get the right sizes for your images on the various social media platforms and give you access to lots of stylish, uncluttered templates you can use with your own photos. You can also check out my free, downloadable guide for helping you get your images to work HERE.)
Are you posting your images at a time when your target audience won’t see it? Pay attention to your insights and analytics to figure out when your audience is online and will see your post.
Yes, you can use your photos throughout all of your social media platforms. But if the content you’re adding on those platforms isn’t adding value for the users there, it doesn’t matter how pretty your photo is. So make sure that your photo and content match and are relevant to your audience on that platform.
ENGAGEMENT AND MARKETING
And when you post, you need to engage with your audience by responding to their questions and comments. A marketing specialist can help you know the best ways to engage and market to your target audience. But if that isn’t in the budget, you can always take some marketing training on your own. As you work on engaging with and marketing to your audience, you’ll learn better and better how to use your images and content to move toward follows and likes and, eventually, conversions.
Remember that photography is just 1 piece of the puzzle for growing a successful business. So perform this audit and tune up your marketing skills or hire some support to make sure that you are using your photos well. As a photographer and content director, I’d love to chat with you about how you can best use photography in your individual business. And you can also use my Flatlay Method Ecourse as a resource to help you learn how to take those eye-catching photos you want for your business.
